On October 2, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrоhim met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan Takayuta Miyashita.

At the meeting the sides discussed the bilateral cooperation in the field of transport.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Japan in the implementation of public investment projects in the field of transport, noting that the Government of Japan through the Embassy of Japan in Tajikistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) makes a significant contribution to the development of transport. The Minister of transport raised the issue of reconstruction of the Bokhtar-Kyzyl-Qala highway and noted that the construction of the road should be started as soon as possible.

The Japanese ambassador also spoke about cooperation with the country's transport sector and issues related to cooperation with JICA, noting that some issues have been delayed due to traffic restrictions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic and work will be done to eliminate these restrictions.

The two sides expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation.
